Sherry Lee Short received her BA in Drawing and Painting from Minnesota State University and her MFA in Painting with Distinction from the University of Georgia. She currently teaches drawing and illustration at Minnesota State University Moorhead. She has received numerous awards, including the Minnesota State Universities’ Board of Trustees Outstanding Educator Award (2020) and the MSUM Dille Outstanding Lecturer Award (2021). She has held national and international wilderness artist residences, including Isle Royale National Park and The Wild Residency (Ontario, Canada).
Short’s work has evolved over the years from a primary focus on figure drawing and painting to landscape explorations to her most current work, collages. Consistent through these bodies of work is an introspective quality that is captured in a dialogue between the subject, concept, and media.
